Automate AIX Network Printer Setup
Budget: €8 – €30 EUR
I need a repeatable way to add and configure a network printer on an IBM AIX server without buying extra software. The solution must rely solely on native AIX utilities or reputable open-source packages; I already use lpstat for basic queue checks.
Key requirements
• A print header that automatically places fixed plain-text wording plus our company logo at the top of every job.
• Clear, step-by-step instructions so I can edit the header text or change the logo later.
• Compatibility with standard AIX versions (please note which version you develop on) and with common network printer protocols.
Deliverables
1. Shell script (ksh or bash) or equivalent automated method.
2. Any auxiliary configuration files, filters, or PPD modifications required.
3. README outlining installation, rollback, and troubleshooting.
4. Short test plan that proves the header and logo render correctly on the target printer.
