Remote U.S. GAAP Bookkeeper Needed

Job ID: 39973633

Budget: $8 – $15 USD

Job description
About the role

We’re growing and looking for a hands-on, hyper-efficient Senior Bookkeeper to own month-end close and daily accounting for a large multi-client portfolio. You’ll thrive here if you love moving fast, spotting errors on the fly, and keeping many small-business clients perfectly reconciled—month after month.

What you’ll do

Own month-end close for a high-volume book (≈ 100+ clients, with capacity to scale).
Perform bank/credit card reconciliations, accruals/adjustments, and seamless month rollovers.
QA while you work: review teammates’ entries, spot/correct errors, and uphold GAAP accuracy.
Maintain clean, audit-ready books across diverse U.S. small-business sectors (nonprofit, music academies, construction, real estate, mortgage, home services, etc.).
Manage AR/AP/invoicing workflows end-to-end; coordinate with client teams as needed.
Payroll: coordinate processing across multiple U.S. platforms (Gusto, ADP, Netchex, Paychex, Northstar, BambooHR, SurePayroll).
Nonprofit expertise: allocate deposits, record donor activity, maintain donor profiles, and support year-end acknowledgments/compliance.
Work exclusively in QuickBooks Online (QBO); QBO certification preferred.
Navigate client-specific systems: GrowthZone (member/payments research), FundraiseUp, Benevity, Authorize.net, Ramp, Stripe, Mindbody (revenue allocations via JEs), ServiceTitan/Jobber (pull payment reports), mortgage portals (amortization schedules).
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients via email/meetings; document processes and status succinctly.

Must-have qualifications

U.S. GAAP mastery and deep experience categorizing small-business expenses across varied industries.
Extensive QBO expertise (certification a plus).
Proven success managing large, multi-client monthly close with tight deadlines.
AR/AP/Invoicing power-user experience.
Time management & throughput: consistent record of getting a lot done in short windows; excellent prioritization.
Reliability: outstanding attendance and punctuality; comfortable with SLAs.
Communication: fluent, professional English in writing and speech.
Schedule: ability to overlap with the U.S. Eastern Time workday by at least 4 hours.
Tenure & breadth: at least one prior role of 3+ years and 10 years total serving a wide range of clients.
Integrity with confidential data.

Big plus (moves you to the front)

Experience with AI-assisted bookkeeping (e.g., auto-categorization rules engines, OCR bill pay, anomaly detection, workflow automations) and a track record of implementing/optimizing these tools.

Nice to have

Experience across the listed nonprofit/industry platforms (GrowthZone, FundraiseUp, Benevity, Authorize.net, Ramp, Stripe, Mindbody, ServiceTitan, Jobber).
Payroll experience across multiple U.S. providers.

Compensation & work setup

Employment type: Full-time, remote.
Compensation: $10-$12/hr with growth opportunity.
Tools: QBO, payroll platforms listed above, standard remote stack.

How to apply

Bid, then message with your résumé, a brief note on your largest client count handled concurrently, your monthly close throughput (e.g., # entities closed/month), and two examples of process improvements or error-prevention steps you introduced.
