Project Brief – Backend & Payment Integration Upgrade for UWUH (AI-Powered Waste Bank Platform)
About UWUH
UWUH is an AI-powered digital platform that connects waste banks (bank sampah) with users across Indonesia. It was developed by highschoolers for a research project in collaboration with a local government body to help change local rubbish conditions. The website will be launched to the public soon, though still needs some fixes to ensure extra security measures.
Current key features include:
- AI Waste Classification: Users can identify waste types simply by uploading a photo.
- Nearest Waste Bank Map: Location-based service showing nearby waste banks.
- Waste Savings Tracker: View transaction history and waste deposit balance.
- Waste Pickup Delivery: Schedule home pickups for waste deposits.
- Streak & Leaderboard: Gamified elements to encourage regular waste management.
- Pickup Confirmation & Real-time Pricing: Live waste weighing and price confirmation accurate with real, dynamic waste price changes
- Digitalized Administration: Automated financial & waste reports, downloadable in Excel format.
What We Need:
We’re looking for a freelance backend developer or fintech integrator to improve our current platform. Please note that this is an enhancement of an existing system and not a build-from-scratch project. This project is large-scale and urgent, though still needs final fixes before it can be fully implemented.
Scope of Work
- Backend Improvement & Refactoring
- Refactor the existing backend code to be more secure, modular, and scalable.
- Optimize database performance and API response times.
- Provide clean technical documentation.
- QRIS Payment Integration (using Midtrans)
- Implement seamless QRIS-based payments using Midtrans or similar service.
- Enable user-to-waste-bank transactions with real-time payment status updates.
- Handle payment events like success, failure, or pending effectively.
- Cash Flow Management System
- Develop a simple dashboard to track incoming and outgoing transactions.
- Structure the cash flow clearly for both users and waste banks.
- Add export options for monthly financial reports (Excel/PDF).
Who We’re Looking For
- Strong experience with backend development (Node.js).
- Proven knowledge of payment integration systems (especially QRIS/Midtrans).
- Familiar with relational databases (Firebase) and secure API practices.
- Familiar with QRISor Midtrans services
- Bonus: Experience with fintech or environmental tech platforms.
Project Duration
Estimated duration: 3 weeks (negotiable based on discussion). The development of the project is near implementation stage, thus why we only need security fixes to ensure that locals can seamlessly use the website.
