Project Overview
This project involves building and deploying a scalable backend for a remote team web application. The app allows users to text selfies, integrates them into AI-generated team photos, hosts compiled slideshows, and hosts collaborative video chats. The backend must support user interaction, media uploads, AI integration, and video conferencing logistics.
Scope of Work
1. Backend Deployment & Database Integration
- Establish deployment framework for Vercel and Supabase integration.
- Successfully deploy REST API endpoints using Next.js API routes (under /app/api/*).
- Connect to the Supabase Postgres database via Prisma ORM.
- Ensure ability to create, read, and update group data (e.g., name, members, photo URLs).
2. Image Intake via Twilio
- Set up Twilio phone number for MMS image intake.
- Implement webhook endpoint to receive and log selfies sent via text message.
- Store incoming image metadata (e.g., sender, timestamp, URL) in the database.
3. Slideshow Logic (Placeholder)
- Create API endpoint to initiate and retrieve slideshow generation.
- Scaffold database schema to support team image submissions
4. Video Chat Infrastructure (Placeholder)
- Scaffold logic and routes for video chat breakout rooms (one per team).
- Include support for organization-wide video chat
- Recommend third-party APIs for real-time video (e.g., Daily.co, Twilio Video, LiveKit, Zoom).
5. Admin and Debug Endpoints
- Health check and database connectivity test endpoints.
- Ensure informative error messages and logging throughout backend code.
Deliverables
- Fully functional and deployed backend (via Vercel) connected to Supabase.
- Working MMS intake using Twilio with selfie images stored to database.
- Functional API endpoints for ping, groups, dbping, and placeholders for slideshow/judging/video.
- Source code deployed to GitHub repository and build verified on Vercel.
