Freelance Backend Developer (Ionic Mobile App + AI Integration) – Individuals Only
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
We are seeking an independent backend developer (no agencies) to work on a project basis for a cross-platform mobile app built using Ionic Framework.
The app will include a calorie counter and AI-powered tools (OpenAI or other LLM integrations) for nutrition and wellness tracking.
You will work directly with our in-house frontend developer and product lead to create a secure, scalable backend that powers the app’s features.
Scope of Work
Backend Architecture: Design, develop, and deploy backend systems for user accounts, calorie tracking, data storage, and analytics.
API Development: Build secure RESTful or GraphQL APIs for seamless integration with the Ionic frontend.
AI Integration: Implement AI/LLM features such as nutrition chatbots, food recognition, and personalized suggestions.
Database & Authentication: Set up and manage databases, user authentication, and secure data handling.
Cloud Deployment: Deploy and maintain backend on AWS, GCP, or Azure environments.
Required Skills
Strong backend development skills with Node.js, Django, Laravel, or similar frameworks.
Proven experience building APIs for Ionic or other mobile app frameworks.
Database expertise (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
Familiarity with AI API integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar).
Experience with cloud hosting, containerization (Docker), and backend security best practices.
Nice to Have
Experience with health, fitness, or nutrition-related apps.
Knowledge of image recognition APIs for food logging.
Understanding of data privacy requirements for wellness/health applications.
