Backend Python Developer within Quantitative finance to improve in-house built Analysis Engine
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I need a backend Python developer with a quantitative finance background to improve our in-house Analysis Engine.
We are a fully remote quantitative trading company operating equities market.
We are looking for a skilled backend Python developer to help improve and scale our in-house trading strategy analysis engine, currently built in Python within Jupyter Notebooks. This engine is central to how our data analysts research and validate new trading strategies. It is fully functional, but we now need your help to take it to the next level in terms of performance, architecture, and flexibility.
What You’ll Do
- Refactor and scale our existing Python-based analysis engine
- Redesign early steps in the pipeline (e.g. data cleaning and identification) to be more robust and modular
- Optimize architecture for usability across multiple strategies and workflows
- Collaborate with analysts and strategists to understand use cases and ensure smooth integration
- Proactively identify bottlenecks, bugs, and inefficiencies – and own the process of fixing them
- Take increasing ownership of the entire analysis engine over time
Who You Are
- A strong backend Python developer with a proven track record building robust and scalable systems
- Comfortable working in Python and Jupyter Notebooks and managing large, complex codebases
- Able to think critically, take initiative, and operate with a high level of autonomy
- You’re not just looking for task-based work – you want to own and improve an entire domain
- You believe in freedom under responsibility, and know how to manage yourself effectively
- You’re kind, reliable, and value long-term professional relationships
- You have a Interest in algorithmic trading or quantitative finance (not required – but helpful)
- You’re very familiar with standard practices of data analysts
Nice to Have
- Experience with trading systems, financial data, or data engineering pipelines
- Familiarity with cloud-based environments, containerization (e.g. Docker), or scalable architecture design
