Backend Medusa.js Developer
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
DESCRIPTION
I have a B2C eCommerce website in development using the Medusa.js framework.
I am looking for a backend developer who has experience with Medusa to help implement and optimize several features, and provide overall advice and context for development.
TASKS
Set up calculated shipping profiles and fulfillment services. We need to have the ability to have a certain item's shipping cost $7, with each additional item of the same type an additional $3 to the total shipping cost.
Advise on configuring Email service. There is a popular email plugin for Medusa, medusa-plugin-sendgrid - However, we are instead using Resend, an email service provider which does not have a Medusa plugin. Over the call, I'm going to show you our current setup for emails. Currently we have a registered email service, but it is not a plugin, and I want to get your thoughts on how I've architected it.
Take note of warnings during run and build process - service subscribers/listeners. Make a list: what needs to still be implemented and optimized in the app? Ensure that all the configuration messages are coming back as expected. Are we successfully connecting to redis instance for cache and events module? Etc.
Logging: Set up error handling and logging for development and production environments of backend and frontend.
API calls:
* Help set up "Related Products". You don't have to create the algorithm which will be used to determine which products are related to others, but instead set it up so that this information can be generated during the build process and is available to be retrieved from the frontend.
* Optimization: Making a request to get a Product returns a lot of information we don't need - the entire payload is ~150KB for one product. Find a way to modify the API response to trim down the response body while still giving enough information necessary for the frontend. We can talk through this together.
* In the Medusa documentation, "Product Option" has a "metadata" property. However, when making API requests, there doesn't seem to be any way to modify any property for Product Option except "title". Provide advice on how to resolve this moving forward.
Miscellaneous:
* Advise on best practices for setting up database for Medusa. Should we manually specify indexes in the database tables, or is this already managed?
* Answer other miscellaneous questions about Medusa and optimization.
NOTES
Storefront performance is critical.
I will be available to help and answer questions for you. We will walk together through your Git commits over voice chat and screen share.
This project should be completed within 2 weeks of assignment.
It may help to have a basic understanding of Next.js, as that is what the frontend is built on.
REQUIREMENTS
You must have experience with Medusa.js.
You should write things in a modular way and use good TypeScript principles.
If you are not the specific person who will be performing the work, don't apply for this project. I am looking for an individual contractor, not an agency.
When applying for the project, you must include details about previous work that you've done, including any experience with Medusa.
You must have a GitHub account.
You must speak English and be available for voice chat and screen share.
This project should be completed within 10 days of assignment.
