Backend Developer (JavaScript | Web & Mobile Integration Expert)

We are expanding our fitness business into web and mobile platforms. With a frontend and mobile developer already on board, we are now looking for an experienced backend developer to establish the project’s foundation.
Beyond development, this role involves contributing to key architectural decisions and ensuring technical consistency across the team as we grow our digital ecosystem.
Project Description:
We need a backend developer to design and implement scalable APIs and server-side systems using JavaScript/Node.js that serve both web and mobile applications. You will work closely with our frontend and mobile developers to ensure seamless integration, smooth performance, and high-quality deliverables.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain backend APIs for web and mobile platforms using Node.js (Express/NestJS) or similar JS frameworks.
• Design scalable server-side architecture to support future growth.
• Collaborate closely with frontend and mobile developers to coordinate development.
• Provide technical direction and leadership within the dev team.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Required Skills / Experience:
• 3+ years of Node.js backend development.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
• Database expertise: SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Firebase).
• Understanding of mobile platform considerations and API integration.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with a small, agile team.
Preferred:
• Experience in startups or fast-paced environments.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Firebase, Azure) and deployment.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
• Experience with serverless architecture or microservices.
Deliverables:
• Fully functional Node.js backend supporting web and mobile clients.
• Well-documented APIs and database schema.
• Deployment-ready code on a preferred cloud environment.
