Backend Code Review & Documentation

Job ID: 40067767

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

My business-management platform has been running smoothly for years, yet no clear documentation was ever produced. I now need a fresh set of eyes to dive into the existing backend repository, work out exactly how it ticks, and turn that knowledge into clear, developer-friendly documentation.

The language, framework and folder conventions are still a mystery to me, so the first task will be to identify the tech stack. From there, I want an easily readable explanation of the overall architecture, major modules, data flow and any external integrations. A concise map of the folder structure, showing where controllers, models, utilities and config files live, is essential so future developers can jump in without reverse-engineering everything from scratch.

Once we agree on secure access, you’ll receive the full codebase and, if it helps, an overview of the business logic the app supports. There is little to no in-code commenting, so your analysis will need to rely on reading the functions, routes and database interactions directly.

Deliverables
• Short report confirming the language, framework and key libraries
• Diagram or text outline of the folder architecture and how modules relate
• Step-by-step narrative describing request handling—from entry point to database and back
• Pointers to any potential pain points, dead code or obvious refactor targets

I’ll happily clarify any business logic details during the review phase and can provide additional context over screen share if something in the code isn’t immediately clear.
