Migrate NAV 2017 to D365
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I’m ready to move our on-premise NAV 2017 environment into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Center so the team can start benefiting from the newest features, especially the advanced analytics and AI-powered insights that simply aren’t available in our current setup.
Here’s what I need from you:
• A full, verified migration of all financial records along with complete vendor information.
• Lift-and-shift (or re-engineering where required) of every customization we rely on today, ensuring identical or better functionality once we are live in the cloud.
• Configuration of Business Center to surface its modern analytics capabilities and any other native enhancements that will speed up reporting and decision-making.
• Post-migration sanity checks, performance tuning and user acceptance testing so the switch happens with zero data loss and minimal downtime.
If you’ve already taken NAV 2017—or similar legacy NAV versions—into Dynamics 365 Business Center, please outline that experience and the tooling you use (RapidStart, Azure Data Factory, third-party migrators, Power Platform, etc.). I’m aiming for a smooth cut-over, so a clear timeline, milestone plan and rollback strategy will be key factors in awarding the project.
Project Scope:
You will be working closely with our internal IT person, who has NAV experience and bandwidth to assist with data extraction and testing. Your primary responsibilities will be:
System Setup & Configuration: Provision and configure the new Business Central Cloud environment for 15 total users (1 Premium/Full access user, 14 Team Member users for timesheet entry).
Data Migration: Guide our internal IT person on extracting master data (Chart of Accounts, Customers, Vendors, Items) from NAV 2017. You will then use Configuration Packages (RapidStart) to import and map this master data into Business Central.
Financial Balances: Assist in migrating the General Ledger opening balances to ensure our P&L and Balance Sheets are accurate from day one.
Timesheets & Jobs Setup: Configure the standard, out-of-the-box Business Central "Jobs" (Projects) and "Timesheets" modules. We previously used heavy customizations for labor distribution, but we want to leverage standard BC capabilities moving forward.
Training & Handoff: Provide basic training and support to our team to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience with Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central implementations and migrations.
Strong functional understanding of accounting processes, financial reporting, and the Business Central Jobs/Timesheets modules.
Expertise in using Microsoft Configuration Packages (RapidStart) and data mapping.
Excellent communication skills and willingness to co-manage the project with our internal IT staff.
