Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Systems Administrator to manage and support a hybrid IT infrastructure environment that spans both on-premise and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise across virtualization, storage, Windows Server domains, and cloud services, with a passion for performance optimization, automation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Management (On-Premise):
Deploy, manage, and maintain core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file/print services, and enterprise storage (Nimble, TrueNAS, SAN, VSAN).
Administer virtualization platforms, primarily VMware vSphere and ESXi, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
Handle backup operations, batch job scheduling, and endpoint administration.
Cloud Platforms (AWS & Azure):
Support and monitor production workloads across AWS and Azure, including compute, storage, and networking resources.
Implement cloud-based solutions and integrate them with on-prem infrastructure as needed.
Performance & Optimization:
Conduct capacity planning, system tuning, and proactive performance monitoring across all environments.
Identify and address resource bottlenecks, applying upgrades or configuration changes to improve system efficiency.
Automation & Scripting:
Develop and maintain scripts in PowerShell and Python for automating routine administrative tasks.
Leverage REST APIs for third-party application integrations and service automations.
Operational Support & Leadership:
Provide Tier III technical support for escalated system issues.
Mentor junior IT staff and deskside support technicians.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support.
System Maintenance:
Coordinate the testing and deployment of software updates across enterprise systems.
Process Improvement & Documentation:
Identify areas for process improvement and implement automation or tooling enhancements.
Create and maintain clear, organized documentation for systems, procedures, and project workflows.
Project & Vendor Management:
Lead infrastructure-related projects or serve as a technical SME.
Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to ensure service quality and support delivery.
Qualifications:
Proven experience managing both on-prem and cloud-based systems.
Expert-level proficiency with VMware vSphere, Windows Server administration, and enterprise storage systems.
Solid scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Python.
Familiarity with AWS and Azure services and best practices.
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
