Full-Stack Engineer for SaaS Finalization

Job ID: 40594985

Budget: $50 – $0 USD

Senior Full-Stack Engineer to Finish and Productionize Existing SaaS
React + TypeScript + FastAPI + PostgreSQL + Azure + OpenAI

About the project

Operation MOS is a live SaaS product helping veterans translate military experience into civilian résumés, job applications, LinkedIn content, ATS-tailored résumés, and interview preparation.

This is not a greenfield build and not a “vibe code a new app” job. The core product is already built and deployed. I need a senior engineer who can take ownership of the finish line: validate what works, fix demonstrated issues, simplify duplicate paths, polish the remaining modules, and safely productionize counselor and enterprise workflows.

We have a detailed discovery package, product inventory, diagrams, prioritized backlog, deployment runbooks, and existing test coverage ready for the right candidate.

Current stack
- Frontend: React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind
- Backend: Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy
- Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, Azure Blob Storage
- Infrastructure: Azure App Service/container deployment, GitHub Actions
- AI/document workflows: Azure OpenAI/OpenAI, GPT-5 mini and GPT-4.1 nano, PDF parsing and OCR
- Product areas: résumé builder/export, FITREP/EVAL import, ATS tailoring, LinkedIn tools, interview prep, counselor dashboard, enterprise dashboard, admin operations

What I need you to own
1. Learn the existing system quickly
- Review the discovery package, architecture, backlog, deployment process, and test suite.
- Validate current production/staging behavior before changing it.
- Identify real bugs versus stale findings, feature flags, or intentional pilot limitations.

2. Finish and harden the product
- Improve the veteran journey where evidence shows friction.
- Finish/polish the counselor and enterprise dashboards.
- Strengthen loading, error, retry, empty, and recovery states.
- Consolidate duplicate or legacy paths only when justified by evidence.
- Improve maintainability around large React screens without proposing a rewrite.

3. Own production-quality engineering
- Write focused tests at the right layer: unit, API contract, and browser only when useful.
- Protect role-based access, tenant isolation, PII, consent, secure file handling, and auditability.
- Work safely with Azure configuration, feature flags, migrations, staging deployment, rollback, logging, and monitoring.
- Treat AI quality, latency, token usage, and cost as product requirements.

4. Create a clean handoff
- Small, reviewable PRs.
- Clear release notes, test evidence, screenshots where relevant, and rollback notes.
- A prioritized recommendation for what to ship, pilot, gate, defer, or remove.

Required experience
- Strong production React + TypeScript experience.
- Strong Python/FastAPI and PostgreSQL experience.
- Experience with Azure or comparable cloud deployment/operations.
- Experience with authentication, RBAC, multi-tenant SaaS, PII/security-sensitive workflows.
- Experience integrating and evaluating OpenAI/Azure OpenAI or similar LLM systems.
- Comfortable working in an existing codebase with imperfect documentation.
- Strong written English and proactive communication.
- Able to explain technical tradeoffs to a non-traditional technical founder.

Nice to have

- Document extraction/OCR/PDF generation experience.
- Accessibility and responsive UX experience.
- Veteran, workforce-development, education, nonprofit, HR-tech, or enterprise SaaS experience.
- Experience taking an MVP through a controlled pilot into a reliable production product.

Important constraints
- No rewrite proposal before you have reviewed the system and produced evidence.
- No production changes without staging validation and rollback awareness.
- No shortcuts around security, tenant isolation, PII, consent, or test coverage.
- This may become an ongoing engagement if the first phase goes well.

Paid first milestone

Start with a paid 8–12 hour technical takeover and execution plan.

You will receive the existing discovery package. Your deliverable is:
- Your understanding of the architecture and product state.
- The top 5 verified risks/opportunities.
- Your recommended first two weeks of work.
- A proposed first PR scope: small, measurable, testable, and reversible.
- Questions or missing access/documentation you need answered.

Please include in your proposal
1. A short example of a SaaS product you inherited and improved.
2. Your hands-on experience with React/TypeScript, FastAPI/Python, PostgreSQL, Azure, and LLM integrations.
3. How you would approach an existing 3,000+ line dashboard component without risking a rewrite.
4. Your weekly availability, time zone, hourly rate, and earliest start date.
5. The phrase “evidence before rewrite” at the top of your response so I know you read this post.

I will prioritize candidates who can show relevant shipped work, communicate clearly, and propose a disciplined first milestone instead of promising to rebuild everything.
