DevOps Engineer for Azure – Web App & Production Environment Setup
Budget: €6 – €12 EUR
About the Project:
We are in the process of developing an advanced web application using Next.js on the frontend and Express.js on the backend. The development environment is already up and running, and we are now ready to transition to setting up a robust production environment on Azure.
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Azure, GitHub and Docker to assist with setting up and optimizing our production infrastructure. The role involves enhancing our current CI/CD pipeline, setting up essential infrastructure components, and ensuring the smooth deployment and operation of our web application.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Environment Setup: Assist in configuring and deploying the production environment on Azure, including web apps with containers, a MySQL database, and the Express.js backend.
CI/CD Pipeline Enhancement: Fine-tune our existing CI/CD pipeline in GitHub Actions, adding linting, unit tests, and other best practices to ensure smooth and reliable deployments.
Automation and Testing: Implement automation, such as webhooks for restarting Azure web apps, and integrate unit tests into the CI/CD process.
Job Scheduling: Set up queues and/or cron jobs in the web app to handle ETL scripts and other scheduled tasks.
Authentication & Authorization: Assist in setting up robust authentication and authorization mechanisms within the Azure Web App to ensure secure access control.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with a focus on Azure.
Proficient in setting up and managing Azure infrastructure, including web apps with containers, MySQL databases, and Express.js backend services.
Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitHub Actions.
Familiarity with linting tools, unit testing, and automation within CI/CD workflows.
Experience with setting up queues and cron jobs within web applications.
Knowledge of authentication and authorization practices in Azure Web Apps.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with development teams.
Availability to dedicate around 5-10 hours per week.
Additional Considerations:
The role will involve close collaboration with the development team to ensure alignment between infrastructure and application needs.
Participation in daily meetings and working sessions will be required initially to ensure a smooth onboarding and setup process.
For applying to the project, we prefer freelancer to agencies. Briefly, state if you prefer static web app deployment over docker deployment to be considered for the project here.
