Azure DevOps Expert for Release Management Upgrade

Job ID: 39762433

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

We’re looking for an Azure DevOps expert to help us accelerate a major upgrade to our release management process. We’ve done the planning and have a solid framework documented, but we need someone with deep hands-on experience in pipeline design and implementation to bring it all together.

This is a contract consulting engagement where you will work closely with our internal team to turn our drafted plans and pipelines into a production-ready, reusable “gold standard” for our enterprise release process.

What You’ll Do

Refine & Implement Tier 1 Orchestrator Pipeline (module-orchestrator.yml)

Enhance PowerShell logic to parse manifests

Implement dual-mode logic (dev branch vs. release/* branch)

Refine & Implement Promotion Pipelines (promote-to-qa.yml, promotion.yml)

Handle Git tagging, build-from-tags, and packaging of the Module Release Object (MRO)

Build the Hotfix Pipeline (create-hotfix-package.yml)

Support lightweight hotfix builds with a hotfix-manifest.yml

Harden Reusable Build Templates

Review .NET and Angular templates for robustness, parameterization, and best practices

Plan & Enable Tier 2 / Tier 3 Implementation

Draft a technical plan for enterprise-level orchestration (aggregation & deployment workflows)

Advise on Cross-Instance Artifact Strategy

Support integration between on-premises and cloud Azure DevOps instances for artifact sharing and deployments

What We’re Looking For

Proven expertise building and refining Azure DevOps YAML pipelines

Strong PowerShell scripting experience

Experience with .NET and Angular build pipelines

Understanding of multi-tiered release management (orchestrator, QA, production)

Familiarity with artifact management across cloud and on-premises ADO instances

Ability to mentor and guide an internal team, leaving them with a clear roadmap

Engagement Details

Initial workload: ~40h/week to complete Tier 1 implementation

Follow-up workload: ~20h/week for Tier 2 & Tier 3 planning and handoff

Contract length: <1 month, with potential for extension

Deliverables: Production-ready pipelines, hardened templates, and a technical roadmap for scaling
