Azure Database Setup for Power BI

I’m gearing up for a new Power BI reporting solution and need an Azure-savvy database specialist who can jump in right away. The plan is to stand up a cloud-native Azure SQL Database as the primary store, capable of handling both transactional and analytical workloads. If you see a strong case for complementing it with Cosmos DB or Azure Data Lake for specific scenarios, I’m open to hearing your rationale—speed and scalability are top priorities.

Here’s what I’m after:
• Design a clean, well-indexed schema that supports near-real-time inserts for transactional data while remaining query-friendly for analytics.
• Configure the Azure environment (elastic pools, DTU/vCore sizing, geo-replication, automated backups, security best practices).
• Set up reliable data ingestion pipelines (Azure Data Factory or equivalent) so my Power BI model always pulls fresh data.
• Optimise performance for complex DAX queries and create the required views or materialised tables that Power BI will consume.
• Provide concise documentation and a walkthrough so I can maintain and extend the setup after hand-off.
