AWS Engineer for Website Restoration

Job ID: 40158802

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I need an experienced AWS engineer to help restore a production website hosted on EC2 without losing any data.

Background
• I have an existing AWS account with EC2 instances and an EBS root volume that contains all site data
• The original EC2 instance was stopped, and the root EBS volume was detached
• I do NOT have the original SSH PEM key
• AWS temporarily restricted my account due to a leaked IAM access key (now resolved with AWS Support)
• A snapshot of the original root volume has already been created
• The goal is to bring the site back exactly as it was

What I need done
• Launch a new temporary EC2 instance (once AWS removes the restriction)
• Attach the existing EBS volume (or snapshot-created volume)
• Mount the volume and verify data integrity
• Repair SSH access (reset authorized_keys / create new key pair)
• Ensure the OS and web stack are intact
• Detach the volume and reattach it to the production EC2 instance
• Start the instance and confirm the website is live
• No rebuilding, no redeploying, no data loss

Requirements (important)
• Strong experience with AWS EC2, EBS, IAM, Linux
• Experience recovering EC2 instances without original PEM keys
• Comfortable working with detached root volumes
• Able to explain steps clearly and work carefully
• Must not propose rebuilding the server from scratch

Nice to have
• Experience with production incident recovery
• Familiarity with Apache/Nginx + typical Linux web stacks

Deliverable
A fully restored EC2 instance with the existing site running exactly as before.
