Conference Interpretation Audio Technician
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
We are a provider so simultaneous interpretation equipment for conferences. We are looking for a reliable, professional, independent audio technician to do freelance work for us from time to time. Ideally we are looking for someone who already has experience with simultaneous interpretation systems and working independently at conferences without anyone on site managing you. You should be comfortable setting up, monitoring and maintaining interpreter booths, microphones, transmitters, receivers and headphones.
Important skills include:
- Ensuring clear audio for the interpreters and coordinating with the AV team to troubleshoot any audio issues.
- Ensuring clear wireless transmission from the transmitters to the receivers used by the listeners (typically RF transmitters).
- Interfacing with the client to coordinate, troubleshoot etc. For this you need to be professional, well spoken, and have good people skills.
- Monitoring the interpreters to ensure that they are on the right channel and have their mics turned on.
Additional helpful skills:
Experience running PA systems for meetings and familiarity with mixers, speakers, microphones and setting up the audio for standard and hybrid meetings.
Experience running Zoom is a plus as well.
Key deliverables:
• Complete setup, testing, and monitoring if the equipment
• On-site technical support throughout the conference, including rapid troubleshooting
• Final tear-down with a concise report on system performance and any issues resolved
• Strike and prepare all equipment for load out.
It helps if you are comfortable travelling throughout the U.S.

All other locations will also be considered. Pay will be full and half day rates.
