With a strong pipeline of high-end projects across the Tri-State Area, we’re looking to expand our freelance bench with an experienced and certified AV Designer who can hit the ground running.
Who We’re Looking For:
We're seeking a highly knowledgeable and motivated freelance AV Designer with proven expertise in designing commercial audiovisual systems. You should be CTS and CTS-D certified and have deep hands-on knowledge with platforms such as Crestron, QSC, Extron, and Biamp. This is a flexible, project-based role ideal for someone local to the Tri-State Area who can occasionally attend client walkthroughs or job site visits.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate project requirements into AV system designs and schematics
Develop system block diagrams, signal flow drawings, and equipment layouts
Create and review bills of materials (BOMs) and scopes of work
Specify hardware and software from trusted vendors (Crestron, QSC, Extron, Biamp, etc.)
Coordinate with project managers, sales engineers, and installers
Occasionally conduct on-site evaluations or walk-throughs as needed
Provide technical support during pre-install and commissioning phases
Required Qualifications:
CTS and CTS-D certifications (both required)
Specialist-level expertise in:
Crestron
QSC
Extron
Biamp
Strong command of signal flow, AV over IP, and networked audio
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly
Based in or near the Tri-State Area (NY/NJ/CT) – must be able to travel locally if needed
Familiarity with design tools (AutoCAD, D-Tools, Bluebeam, etc.) a plus
Nice to Have:
Experience with smart conference room designs or hybrid office environments
Field installation or commissioning background
Experience collaborating with architects, GC’s, or IT teams
