Dynamic Dance Lighting Design
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I’m staging a belly dance performance on Nov. 8, 2025, in a small theatre of 175 seats and need an experienced lighting technician to craft an engaging atmosphere from pre-show to final bow. I envision lighting that blends spotlights, coloured washes, and well-timed strobe accents without overwhelming the limited grid or the audience's sightlines.
What I’m looking for:
• A lighting plan tailored to our small house plot.
• A cue-by-cue sequence sheet mapped to the choreography, noting timing and fade dynamics for spot, colour, and strobe transitions.
• Lead a focused tech rehearsal, fine-tuning levels, timings, and blackout points for clean transitions.
• Availability to tech in person on 11/6 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
I estimate a total of nine hours—lighting tech/run-through on 11/6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and a run-through and show on 11/8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You’ll have creative freedom to sculpt atmosphere while respecting dancer safety and the constraints of a compact rig. Prior dance lighting experience—or at least familiarity with cueing moving bodies—is essential.
