I’m leading a young EV startup made up mostly of engineering students, and we’ve reached the point where our concept demands heavyweight industrial experience. Our first-generation electric-vehicle architecture is still at the purely conceptual stage, so every circuit decision we make now will echo through manufacturing, safety approvals, and future iterations.

What I need is a seasoned electrical engineer—someone who has taken complex power-electronics or automotive boards from whiteboard sketches all the way to production—and who enjoys coaching less-experienced teams. Your primary mission in this first phase is to shape our full circuit design strategy: refine high-level schematics, set component standards, highlight failure-mode considerations, and map out a realistic path toward proto builds and regulatory compliance.

I’m flexible on the toolchain; we haven’t locked into Altium, KiCad, LTspice, or any other CAD or simulation environment yet, so your preferred workflow can steer that decision. Remote collaboration is fine as long as you can dedicate regular touchpoints and quick turnaround on key questions.

Deliverables for Phase 1
• An annotated top-level schematic or block diagram that reflects your recommended architecture
• A concise bill-of-materials outline with rationale for major components
• A risk log spotlighting critical design assumptions and mitigation strategies
• A phased roadmap that shows how we progress from concept to prototype—and what support you foresee in later phases

Acceptance criteria: the schematic and roadmap must be detailed enough that our student team can begin simulation without ambiguity and can trace every design choice back to a clear engineering justification.
