Windows Auto-Updater for Data Files
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I need an auto updater developed to synchronize data files from a server to multiple Windows PCs. The update needs to happen daily.
Requirements:
- Build a reliable updater tool
- Ensure seamless file transfer and synchronization
- Implement error handling and logging
- User-friendly installation and setup
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Strong experience with Windows development
- Familiarity with file synchronization mechanisms
- Knowledge of error handling and logging
- Ability to create user-friendly interfaces
We use this to upload new files, revised files, datasheets, images and much more.
On the END users laptop, it is ideal if it runs in the background and does the update and never bothers the end user. ie. automatically.
Once we upload a new file, it is timestamped with a newer date and needs to be compared to what is there already.
For example I have a datasheet already on the server for 3245A.XLS with a date of 03/24/2025. Today we made a modification and uploaded the new change to the server which will reflect 07/30/2025
When the updater runs, it will compare the files that are loaded (all of them) and grab the newest files from there and install them locally on the end users PC.
This is strictly 1 way - meaning the end user will never upload.
This should also have a manual option where they can trigger scans for updates from their desktop.
We already have the files setup on our server and plenty of PCs to test upon.
When done I want an executeable that can be copied and placed on each PC and installed easily. Once installed it will sit idle until its trigger time is made through task scheduler. If the PC is offline, they can run it manually.
I will scan everything you submit for malware, viruses, phishing scripts etc. Anything that triggers an alert will be instantly quarantined and rejected.
I want a timeline and a complete budget to include 6 months of guaranteed support for any issues that arise.
