Production Planning, Inventory & Dispatch Automation Tool for Furniture Manufacturing
About Us
We are a flat-pack furniture manufacturing company supplying products through Amazon Vendor Central. Every week we receive purchase orders for multiple fulfillment locations. We manufacture, pack and dispatch products based on these purchase orders.
Currently our operations are managed using multiple Excel sheets across departments, which is becoming difficult to manage. We are looking for a developer to build a simple web-based operational planning tool to automate production planning, stock management and dispatch planning.
Business Scale
Products (ASINs): 200 – 300
Production Volume: 12,000 units/month (target 25,000)
Purchase Orders: 2000–2500 units/week (expected 5000)
Packing Teams: 3 teams
Shifts: 2 shifts
Amazon Fulfillment Regions: 20 locations
Project Objective
Build a system that automatically plans production and dispatch by comparing:
- New purchase orders
- Existing open purchase orders
- Finished goods stock
- Units under production
- Units ready for packing
Core Modules Required
1. Product Master
Fields:
ASIN, Product name, Internal SKU, CBM per unit, Weight per unit, Minimum production batch quantity
2. Location Master
Fields:
Location code, City, Region, Transport zone
3. Purchase Order Upload
Upload weekly purchase orders including:
PO number, Date, ASIN, Location, Quantity
4. Allocation Engine
System should calculate required production based on:
New PO demand – FG stock – Ready-to-pack units – Units under production
5. Work Order Planning
System should suggest production quantity and allow planner approval before releasing work order.
6. Production Tracking
Daily production entry with fields:
Date, Shift, Production line, ASIN, Work order, Units produced
7. Packing Tracking
Daily packing entry with fields:
Date, Shift, Team, ASIN, Work order, Units packed, QC passed
8. Finished Goods Inventory
FG stock automatically updated:
FG = Packed units – Dispatched units
9. Dispatch Planning
Calculate CBM, weight, recommended vehicle type and shipment planning.
10. Urgent Amazon Inbound Requests
System should allow priority allocation and adjustment of dispatch plans.
The goal is to:
• avoid overproduction
• avoid stock shortages
• improve production planning
• optimize dispatch
• maintain accurate FG inventory
