Light Duty Automation Gearbox & Servo
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
I’m putting together a small industrial-automation station and need a compact gearbox paired with a servo motor that can handle a light-duty load while only requiring basic position and speed control. The goal is to keep the system simple, reliable, and easy to integrate into an existing PLC panel.
What I already know
• Application: light pick-and-place arm on an assembly bench (low inertia, intermittent duty).
• Control requirement: straightforward indexing—no sub-millimetre accuracy or advanced motion profiles.
• Speed range: 30-120 rpm after reduction.
What I’d like from you
1. Confirm the torque calculations and propose a suitable gear ratio.
2. Recommend an off-the-shelf gearbox and matching servo (or a tightly integrated gear-servo unit) that meet the duty cycle and service factor.
3. Provide a concise wiring / I/O diagram showing how the servo ties into a generic 24 V PLC with basic start-stop-reset commands.
4. Share a STEP file (or similar) of the chosen hardware so I can drop it straight into SolidWorks.
Deliverables
1. Select the proper motor for use with the gearbox.
2. The proper encoder to interface with the Arduino and the accelerometer
3. Develop a circuit board for an Analog Devices ADXL335 accelerometer with DC power
distribution to power the servo motor system, the 12V powered antenna, & 3.3v accelerometer
and user interface consisting of “Set Point” and “bypass” with corresponding LED’s
4. Provide all necessary files to manufacture the circuit board
5. Develop and test the code to run the Arduino controller
6. Documentation of code and related circuit board(s)
7. Fine tuning of the system via remotely connected computer and video stream.
Acceptance criteria
• Selected components must handle the calculated peak torque with a 20 % safety margin.
• All part numbers, datasheets, and vendor links included.
• STEP model opens without errors and matches the real-world envelope dimensions.
