Google Apps Script Developer – Automate Reformatting of Client Briefs in Google Docs

Job ID: 39964921

Budget: $250 – $750 AUD

I’m looking for an experienced Google Apps Script developer to build a simple automation that reformats client briefs in Google Docs.

I manage a music booking agency and receive detailed client forms (exported from our CRM as PDFs). These PDFs are opened in Google Docs and contain all the client’s answers. I also have a pre-formatted artist brief template with placeholders (e.g. [[Wedding date]], [[Ceremony location]], etc.) where the key information needs to be inserted.

What I need:

A Google Apps Script that:

- Scans the pasted raw brief at the bottom of the Google Doc.

- Matches each client question to its corresponding placeholder and replaces it with the answer.

- Adds any “extra notes” that don’t match a known question into a placeholder called [[Unmapped notes]].

- Automatically deletes the raw brief section after filling the template (so the document is clean).

- Works across multiple templates (some have more or fewer sections, but the placeholders are consistent).

What I can provide:

- A list of all possible client questions and their corresponding placeholder names.

- A sample formatted brief template.

- A sample raw client brief for testing.

Goal:

A one-click system where I simply:

- Paste the raw client brief at the bottom of the Google Doc.

- Run the script.

- Instantly get a fully formatted artist version ready to send.

Deliverables:

- A working Google Apps Script linked to a sample document.

- Clear installation and usage instructions so I can replicate it on other templates.

Ideal freelancer:

- Strong experience with Google Apps Script and DocumentApp.

- Confident working with text parsing and string matching.

- Writes clean, reliable code and tests thoroughly with real examples.
