Excel RFQ Estimator Upgrade and Ongoing Estimate and Proposal Generation
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I need you to dive into my existing Excel-based cost estimating model, learn its logic front to back, and hunt down every weakness. Automatic error-checking and correction is essential because most problems I face are caused by data entry mistakes. Once the workbook runs cleanly, I’d like thoughtful refinements that speed up customizable bid parsing, streamline data entry, and finish with a rock-solid, automated price table.
Day-to-day flow
• Each time an RFQ arrives (usually 1-5 per month), you’ll extract every spec, quantity, and deadline the bid package requires.
• From there, send request-for-quote packets to my manufacturing suppliers, gather their numbers, and drop the results into the model so the pricing table populates itself.
• Paste those figures into our standard proposal template; I’ll do a final review before it goes out the door.
Long-term vision
If you see a smarter way to move the estimator out of Excel—perhaps into a lightweight app or web dashboard—let’s map it. I’m interested in better ease of use, tighter integration with other software, and enhanced data accuracy, so any architecture or tech stack that delivers those wins is on the table.
Deliverables for each RFQ
1. Clean, updated estimating tool (bug-free at that moment)
2. Parsed RFQ data sheet
3. Supplier quote summary
4. Auto-generated price table inserted into the proposal template
5. Final proposal draft ready for my approval
The relationship is ongoing and collaborative; consistency and attention to detail matter more than speed alone. If this sounds like the kind of problem-solving you enjoy, let’s talk.
