I need a robust, end-to-end backup solution that automatically protects documents and files across Windows, Linux, and macOS machines. My goal is to combine the resilience of cloud storage with the speed of local devices, so the architecture must be hybrid—seamlessly writing to both a trusted cloud provider and on-premise targets such as external drives or a NAS.
Scope
• Design the full backup strategy: retention policies, encryption standards, scheduling, and versioning.
• Build or configure the software stack—open-source or licensed—so it installs cleanly on all three operating systems.
• Automate deployment through scripts or configuration management (PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, or similar) and include silent-install options.
• Implement monitoring and alerting: success/failure notifications via email or webhook.
• Create clear recovery workflows with step-by-step restoration instructions for each platform.
• Provide thorough documentation and a concise hand-off guide.
Success Criteria
• Initial full backup and subsequent incremental runs complete without errors on test machines for each OS.
