Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Model & Case Study Project
Budget: $750 – $1,500 AUD
Seeking a highly skilled freelancer to assist with a comprehensive VDC-based project, including BIM model modification, 4D construction sequencing, clash detection, and basic cost estimation.
Task 1: Virtual Site Setup, Simulation & Reflective Report
Tasks:
• Review and understand the provided BIM model
• Modify the BIM model using Revit, integrating:
o Site boundaries and fencing
o Surveying equipment setup (e.g., total stations, drones)
o Temporary site facilities (storage units, site offices)
o Transport vehicles (trucks, forklifts)
o Plant and equipment (cranes, excavators, concrete mixers, pumps)
• Simulate basic construction sequencing using Navisworks or equivalent 4D scheduling software.
• Generate screenshots documenting key aspects of site logistics and construction simulation.
o Virtual Construction Representation (analysis, testing, verification)
o Site Logistics Planning (visualisation and optimisation)
• Package all files into:
o A compressed .zip containing the modified digital model
o A combined PDF folio (screenshots, workflows, reasoning)
Software to be used:
• Revit
• Navisworks
• Twinmotion (optional for enhanced visualisation)
Case Study Analysis and Presentation
Tasks:
• Apply VDC methodologies to simulate project scheduling using Navisworks Timeliner or FUZO.
• Assess construction sequencing feasibility and optimise resource allocation.
• Conduct cost estimation using CostX (or Revit-based methods if appropriate).
• Perform clash detection and generate coordination reports using Navisworks Manage.
• Analyse the impact of off-site construction methods for efficiency and cost savings.
• Discuss the role of Digital Twin in lifecycle project management.
• Support the preparation of:
o A case study report (max 10 pages) covering:
Project background
Simulation outputs
Cost estimation accuracy evaluation
Clash detection findings
Reflections on challenges, solutions, and lessons learned
Software to be used:
• Navisworks Manage
• FUZO (optional)
• CostX
• Revit plugins (for sustainability/lifecycle analysis)
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Strong proficiency with Revit and Navisworks
• Familiarity with Twinmotion, FUZO, or CostX (preferred)
• Solid understanding of VDC concepts: site logistics, 4D sequencing, clash detection
• Ability to create well-structured, academically compliant outputs
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Experience working in construction simulation, BIM environments, or VDC projects (academic or industry)
