3d design and modelling of an object

Job ID: 31707128

Budget: £250 – £750 GBP

A 3d design and modelling service is required as described below.

1. Design of the assembly’s body:
The body is a 3D hollow component with complex geometry. There are internal thin walls which split the inner space of the body.
A guide (Steps of works) should be provided to define how the final shape is generated. The guide should reference the mathematical/geometrical relation between the body’s different cross sections.

2. Design of sliding parts and their casings.
There are two parts sliding into the body. These parts are mirror image of each other. The casings of these parts shall be buit-in the body's model.
The sliding part has a complex lattice structure.

3. Design of external parts
There are 2 parts which are connected externally to the body. These parts have simple geometry. The body need to be designed in a way to support these items. As an example, there is a tongue and groove connection.

4. Design of internal parts
There are a few parts which are connected internally to the body. These parts have simple geometry. The body need to be designed in a way to support these items.

5. Generating more models from the main one:
8 more body shapes should be created from the original body by slight changing of the size and slight changing of the shape. There will be a total of 9 final body shapes. 3 Sizes x 3 Shapes = 9 total models
Sliding parts, external and internal parts are remaining the same for all 9 different body shape.

6. Generating 3D printing model and assembly
Two body shapes (out of nine) with their internal, external and sliding parts will be selected to be modified for 3D printing. The modifications can be summarised as:
- Changing the thicknesses to suit 3D printing
- Splitting the body to 3 parts and adding tongue and groove connections so the new 3 parts can be connected.
- Modify the necessary changes in internal, external and sliding parts

7. Generating General Model
1 body shape (out of nine) with their internal, external and sliding parts will be selected to be modified for plastic molding. The modifications can be summarised as:
- Splitting the body to 2/4 parts with a special connection design
- Modify the necessary changes in internal, external and sliding parts
8. Other
The work shall be confidential. A confidentiality agreement needs to be in place before the start of the job.
The deliverables should be provided in both Solidworks and AutoCad native formats. A short report describing the methodology should be provided.
3D printing, plastic mold design experience is required to make the model suitable for accurate 3D printing and molding. Smoothing is required when converting Solidworks/AutoCad to 3D printing formats like STL. The quality of curves should be retained avoiding inaccurate polygons.
This work requires a very good communication. Online meetings are essential.
The time scale for delivery of this work is 4-6 weeks.
