Design the building based on schematic functional requirements on any of the given site. The code analysis requirements are to be analyzed and assessed and design modified for
compliance. Please refer to the supplementary information extracted from the National Building Code and the Architect’s Companion text reference. This should be drawn neatly using 1:100 plans including site plan and section to describe the required information to professional standards.

Task
1. Classify your occupancy major and or minor according to NBC 3.2.2.20- 3.2.2.88.
2. Show the major occupancy fire separations along with floor and suite fire separations. NBC Table 3.1.3.1.
3. Using table 3.1.16.A from the NBC of Canada, calculate the occupant load of each floor of your building and clearly indicate the distribution of occupants on each floor.
4. Clearly and accurately describe the egress system on each floor level of the project. This
includes exit corridors, stairways and exit discharge system. Make sure that you note the
direction of travel and dimensions of stair and corridors. Ensure that you provide at least two means of egress from each floor and limit any exit circulation through the lobby area to no more than 50% of the total population of the building. The objective is to discharge as much of the population to a public outdoor space as possible. Draw exit stairs accurately as well as door swings within the egress system.
5. Locate the position of the Siamese connections to the building’s standpipe system and the position of annunciation panels.
6. Determine accessible requirements.
7. Calculate the washroom requirements for each floor including the number of lavatories, water closets and urinals in each washroom on every floor. Following a determination of fixture requirements, estimate washroom areas based on principles of universal access and incorporate into the project if it isn’t already accurate.
