Vehicle Swept Path Analysis

Job ID: 40051902

Budget: $10 – $250 AUD

I need a precise swept-path study for three separate vehicle scenarios traversing a private entrance that is parallel to their current line of travel. The vehicles have to change direction by 30 degrees to complete the traverse. The lane is a constant 4 m wide; the right-hand edge is a hard, fixed boundary, while the opening to be negotiated lies on the left. Under no circumstance may any part of the vehicle cross the left boundary line.

Vehicles to analyse, one at a time:
• 6.2 m tipper truck towing a large vegetation chipper 11.8M curb to curb turning circle, 1M front overhang, 2.5M wide. Chipper, single axle, draw bar to axle 3.2M, width 2.3M
• 8.4 m cherry-picker truck 17.2M curb to curb turning circle, 1.2M front overhang, 2.5M wide
• 6.2 m tipper truck (without chipper)11.8M curb to curb turning circle, 1M front overhang, 2.5M wide
For each calculation, please work with .25M clearance from all obstacles, to allow room for operator error.

For each vehicle I need:
1. A swept-path diagram (PDF or jpeg) showing entry from the straight 4 m lane through the opening.
2. The minimum clear width of that opening that allows the manoeuvre without boundary encroachment on the right hand side of the lane.
3. A short note explaining key assumptions—axis points, lock-to-lock time, overhangs, software version (AutoTURN, Vehicle Tracking, or similar).

The attached jpeg diagram shows the lane way, right hand boundary, approximate vehicle swept path, and identifies the opening that the measurement is required for in yellow.

Everything can be delivered as separate files so I can design and order the gates accordingly and fit them myself. The analysis only concerns individual passes by the vehicles. There is no simultaneous movement required.

Of course the vehicles also have to negotiate the entrance, again driving forwards, to recross back into the lane way.
