Underground FTTP Design Package

Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 USD

I have a rural small-city build—roughly 280 premises—moving forward as an all-underground FTTP deployment. What I need from you is a complete, construction-ready route design that tells my field crews exactly where to trench, place conduit, pull cable, and splice.

Scope of work
• Begin with whatever open GIS, satellite imagery or parcel data you can source (no existing maps are on hand) and turn that into neat plan sheets that cover every residential street plus the few commercial storefronts in town.
• Lay out primary and secondary conduit paths, hand-holes, cabinets, and slack loops, labeling footage and trench depth where required.
• Size and assign fiber counts for each segment, including feeder, distribution and drop, so the network can serve today’s 280 passings with at least 25 % growth headroom.
• Create splice diagrams, fiber assignment tables, and a concise bill of materials that a contractor can price immediately.
• Flag any special construction notes—road crossings, utility conflicts, permitting hotspots, restoration requirements, etc.—directly on the drawings.

Preferred toolset is ArcGIS or QGIS for base mapping and AutoCAD (or equivalent) for plan production, though I’m open as long as the final deliverables hit industry standards.

Deliverables
1. PDF plan set (A1 or ANSI D) with legend, north arrow, and scale
2. Native CAD/GIS files (DWG and/or shapefiles/KMZ)
3. Fiber splice & assignment matrix (Excel)
4. Bill of materials with quantities and part numbers
5. Design narrative summarizing assumptions, design rules, and construction notes

Acceptance criteria
• Routes meet NESC clearance and minimum bend-radius specs
• use a 1.5 build ratio
• Design supports a 1×32 split PON architecture without over-utilising fibers
• All sheets and tables cross-reference correctly (no count mismatches)
