Texas Residential Renovation Engineer
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m adding new exterior elements to my single-family home in Texas and need a structural engineer who already holds an active Texas PE license and has a track record of freelance residential work. The project is strictly renovation/addition focused and involves only the exterior structure—think porch extensions, re-framing sections of the roofline, and reinforcing load-bearing walls that meet the façade.
Here’s the flow I’m expecting:
• Review my preliminary architectural sketches, site photos, and any available original plans.
• Evaluate the existing framing and foundation conditions, then size members and connections for the new exterior work in accordance with current Texas wind-load requirements, the IRC, and local city amendments.
• Produce a complete, permit-ready structural set (PDF and DWG) stamped for Texas, accompanied by concise calculation packages and any notes required by the building department.
If a brief site visit or real-time video inspection will help you confirm field conditions before sealing the drawings, let me know and we can schedule it. I work primarily in AutoCAD 2022 but can adjust if you prefer another mainstream platform. My goal is to submit plans within the next two weeks, so availability for quick turnarounds and responsive communication is important.
Show me examples of past Texas residential renovations you’ve sealed, outline your typical turnaround time, and confirm that your stamp is valid statewide. I look forward to collaborating and getting this addition approved smoothly.
