Supermarket Category Allotment & Space Planning for 925 SQM Store

Project Description

I am looking for an experienced supermarket / hypermarket retail planner to create a detailed category allotment and space utilization plan for a supermarket with a total area of 925 square meters.

The building structure is already completed. What I need is scientifically planned category zoning and space allocation to maximize sales, improve customer flow, reduce congestion, and optimize checkout efficiency.

The store caters to a mixed customer profile (Arabic + Indian + Asian), so category placement should be done based on real retail behavior and best practices, not generic layouts.

Scope of Work

The freelancer will be responsible for:

Category-wise space allotment (in SQM or percentage)

Logical zoning of departments based on customer buying patterns

High-traffic vs low-traffic category placement

Optimized customer flow (entry → circulation → checkout → exit)

Checkout area planning (number & placement)

Fast-moving vs impulse categories positioning

Seasonal / promotional area suggestions

Basic planogram logic (no civil work required)

Categories to be Considered

The plan should cover, but not be limited to:

Fruits & Vegetables

Bakery

Butchery & Fish

Dairy & Frozen

FMCG / Grocery

Snacks & Confectionery

Beverages

Household & Cleaning

Personal Care

Stationery / Miscellaneous

Promotional / Offers Area

Checkout Zone

Deliverables

Category allotment plan (clearly labeled)

Space breakup summary (table format)

Customer flow explanation

Suggestions for improving sales through layout

Final output in PDF + editable format (AutoCAD / Illustrator / PPT / similar)

What I’m Looking For

Proven experience in supermarket / hypermarket planning

Understanding of retail psychology and customer flow

Prior work with grocery chains, hypermarkets, or convenience stores

Ability to explain decisions logically (not just draw)

Please share samples of similar supermarket or retail planning work when bidding.
