Structural Design Review & Optimization – Steel Push Pier Foundation System
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
Prequalification Task (Required – Read First)
To be considered, all applicants must complete a short screening task (~30 mins max):
You’ll be given a real-world bracket detail.
Your task:
- Perform an ACI 318-14 breakout check (tension + shear)
- Describe the structural load path
- Propose 2+ design optimizations (geometry, anchoring, material, etc.)
Factored load per side:
- T = 9,500 lb
- V = 1,800 lb
- Eccentricity = 1.5″ from anchor plane
To Proceed
Reply with the phrase: “Ready for screening – please send bracket and load data.”
- Only applicants who do this will receive the screening task and be considered.
- This filters for engineers who are willing to engage directly with the work.
Clarification on the Screening Task
Some applicants have misunderstood this process. To clarify:
- The screening task is not part of the paid project scope
- The main project pays $1,100 USD for the deliverables listed below
- This is a lump sum engagement —
- For some engineers, the work may take less than 8 hours
- For others, it may take slightly more
- The fixed fee is based on structured deliverables, not hourly time
- This is not unpaid work extraction — it's a targeted filter to identify engineers with structural fluency and design maturity
- Only one engineer will be selected
- Completion of the task does not guarantee selection
Project Overview
We’re developing a modular steel push pier foundation system and seeking a structural engineer to review, validate, and optimize the full system prior to U.S. PE stamping.
This is not a compliance check — we expect real structural insight, clarity of load paths, and performance-driven optimization.
Scope of Work
You’ll be provided:
- 13-page written spec & install guide
- 10-page step-by-step install sequence
- 8–10 pages of CAD layouts
- 5+ structural design overviews (120+ pages total, primarily calculations, geometry, and CAD-driven summaries — not dense narrative text)
- Face-Mount Brackets
- Slab Brackets
- Lift Rod Assemblies
- Pier Pile System
- Load Transfer & Anchoring
Your responsibilities:
- Review all calcs — verify, don’t assume
- Analyze full load paths (brackets, welds, plates, struts, piles)
- Check per:
- ACI 318-14 (anchors, breakout, shear, ecc.)
- AISC 360-16 (stress, welds, stability)
- ASCE 7-16 (load combinations)
- IBC 2018
- Propose practical design optimizations:
- Reduce overbuilding
- Simplify fabrication
- Rationalize layout and section sizes
- Bonus: CAD markups / FEA simulations if appropriate
Who This Role Is For
You must have:
- Fluency with U.S. codes: ACI 318-14, AISC 360-16, ASCE 7-16, IBC 2018
- Proven ability to evaluate welded assemblies, load reactions, and eccentric bracket behavior
- Familiarity with steel fabrication and field-install practices
- Ability to provide sharp, concise structural feedback without handholding
Budget & Terms
- Fixed Price: $1,100 USD
- Estimated effort: ~8–10 focused hours
- Target delivery: within 5–10 calendar days
- Minor follow-up clarifications may occur over 2–4 weeks (no added scope unless approved)
- This is a standalone engagement — future phases may be scoped separately based on performance
To Apply
Send:
- A short summary of your system-level structural design experience
- A relevant sample (bracket, anchor, or welded assembly)
- Your screening task PDF (required)
If you have intelligent questions — ask.
We value clarity.
We don’t respond to blind quotes.
