Solar Carport Steel Design

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I already have a fully worked-out solar car port concept; what I now need is a structural engineer to turn that concept into a fabrication-ready steel package. Your task is to size and detail every steel element so a fabricator can price, cut, drill and erect without further clarification.

The core focus is the integrity of the support columns and their connection points to the roof and foundations, so please pay special attention to load paths, base-plate design and moment connections. All work must satisfy the applicable local building codes as well as recognised industry standards for structural steel.

Deliverables I expect:

• Detailed drawings (GA, sections, connection details) in PDF and DWG/DXF
• Complete material specifications, including grades, coating systems and bolt classes
• Clear, step-by-step assembly instructions suitable for a site crew

Finite-element checks or equivalent hand calculations should accompany critical joints to demonstrate compliance, and the model (Tekla Structures, Advance Steel, or similar) should be included if you use one. Coordination during the authority approvals to modify and/or generate calculations will be needed.

Once I receive the package I should be able to forward it straight to shortlisted steel contractors and receive comparable quotations without additional engineering input. If this brief aligns with your expertise, let’s confirm milestones and get started.
