Senior-Safe Bathroom Renovation
Budget: $750 – $1,500 SGD
I’m updating an existing bathroom so it’s genuinely safe and comfortable for an elderly family member. The first step is to eliminate any trip hazards: the door threshold (sill) must be removed flush with the hallway floor, and the current boxed-in shower cubicle needs to go. In its place I want a seamless walk-in shower area with proper drainage, waterproofing, and a hand-held shower on an adjustable rail.
Safety upgrades I definitely need are sturdy grab bars positioned beside the toilet and inside the shower, plus non-slip flooring throughout the room (tiles or sheet vinyl are both fine as long as the slip-rating is high). Please allow for gentle floor grading into the new shower pan so no lip is required.
You’ll handle demolition, plumbing relocation if the drain needs moving, waterproof membrane installation, tiling or flooring, and finishing carpentry around the doorway once the sill is gone. Include all fixtures and fittings installation, caulking, and final cleanup.
Deliverables
• Site-ready bathroom with door threshold removed and level transition
• Fully waterproofed walk-in shower with correct fall and drain
• Installed grab bars and non-slip floor surface
• All plumbing, tile, and trim work tested and complete
I’ll sign off once the space passes a quick water test, all fixtures feel solid, and the floor shows no uneven edges. Please outline your estimated timeline, any material recommendations, and recent examples of accessible bathroom work when you bid.
