Roof calculations for loft conversion
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
The actual loft has a good potential but 2No. beams cross along the property cutting the area in half. The idea is to remove those intermediate beams giving support to the rafters and hence having to increase the rafter's section for the larger span (max. 5.4m). All this comes with the floor assessment to allow for extra loads (flooring, bed, bathroom and use as a bedroom) and a set of stairs.
I have the 3D of existing structure and a sketch of the requirements.
In the sketches, everything shown in black is to be reused, except battens that are replaced, and reinstated once membrane installed.
Rafters to be removed are shown in blue and replaced for new structure. Ridge beam to be replaced to account for increased point loads.
