Job ID: 40119700

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Precision Mechanical CAD & Technical Drawing Development for Luxury Automatic Watch (NH35 Platform)

Project Overview

I am developing a luxury automatic wristwatch with a fully locked visual design and render-approved architecture.

I am seeking an extremely precise, detail-oriented mechanical CAD specialist to convert existing high-fidelity design renders into manufacturer-ready technical drawings and CAD models.

Your work will be used directly by the manufacturing partner for tooling, prototyping, and production. This is not a conceptual or illustrative task — it is engineering-critical work.

Scope of Work

You will be responsible for creating a complete technical CAD package for a mechanical watch based on the Seiko NH35 automatic movement, strictly respecting supplied renders and dimensional intent.

1. CAD Modeling (SolidWorks / AutoCAD)

Create fully dimensioned, production-ready 3D models for:

Case (multi-part construction: mid-case, bezel, caseback)

Crown and crown tube (NH35 stem height alignment)

Dial (with applied logo mounting)

Hands (hour, minute, central seconds)

Crystal (sapphire, domed or flat as specified)

Caseback (internal clearance for NH35 rotor)

Strap / integrated attachment interface (if applicable)

Models must reflect:

Correct mechanical stack-up

Internal clearances

Assembly feasibility

Manufacturing tolerances

2. Technical Drawings (Critical)

Produce manufacturer-grade 2D technical drawings including:

Orthographic views (top, side, sectioned views)

Exploded assembly views

Dimensioned sections showing:

Case thickness stack

Dial, hand, and crystal clearance

Crown stem alignment

Rotor clearance

Tolerances (+ / −) applied to all critical dimensions

Material callouts

Surface finishing instructions (brushed / polished zones)

Chamfer definitions (if present)

Logo placement coordinates and tolerances

Drawings must be suitable for:

CNC machining

Dial manufacturing

Assembly reference

QC inspection

3. Movement Integration (NH35)

You must demonstrate full understanding of NH35 integration, including:

Movement thickness and diameter

Stem height (1.92 mm)

Dial feet positioning

Hand stack clearance

Rotor clearance requirements

Caseback internal geometry constraints

The case architecture must be engineered around NH35, not adapted later.

4. Logo & Branding Precision

The watch features:

A single applied metal emblem on the dial (no wordmark)

An applied metal emblem on the crown

You must:

Define exact logo dimensions

Specify attachment method (press-fit tolerances)

Define flushness tolerances

Provide exact positioning coordinates

Ensure consistency across dial and crown applications

This is a luxury execution requirement, not decorative.

5. Deliverables

You will deliver:

Native SolidWorks files (.SLDPRT / .SLDASM)

AutoCAD technical drawings (.DWG / .DXF)

Dimensioned PDFs for manufacturer review

Exploded assembly diagrams

A summarized dimension & tolerance index

A final review package ready to be sent to manufacturers without modification

Required Expertise (Non-Negotiable)

You must have:

Proven experience in mechanical product CAD

Experience with tight-tolerance assemblies

Strong understanding of manufacturing constraints

Prior experience in watchmaking, jewelry, or precision mechanical products (strongly preferred)

Ability to work strictly from renders without creative reinterpretation

Comfort working under zero-ambiguity, high-accountability conditions

This is not a task for:

Graphic designers

Concept artists

Generalist CAD users

“Looks good enough” engineers

Working Style & Expectations

Precision over speed

No assumptions without confirmation

Clear communication of engineering trade-offs

Willingness to revise until manufacturing-ready

Respect for locked visual design and proportions

What You Will Be Provided

High-resolution design renders (multiple views)

Movement choice (NH35) locked

A detailed Technical Clarification Sheet

A tolerance and prohibition addendum

Clear approval checkpoints

Application Requirements

When applying, please include:

Examples of precision mechanical CAD work

Any experience with watch or small mechanical assemblies

Your primary CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)

Your approach to ensuring manufacturing accuracy

Confirmation that you understand this is production-critical work

Final Note

This role is closer to engineering partnership than freelance illustration.
If executed correctly, your work will directly become a manufactured luxury product.

I am looking for someone who treats precision as a discipline, not a preference.
