Detailed Civil / Landscape Project Take-Off
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
You are required to complete a full, detailed take-off for a public domain civil/landscape project based on the provided drawings, specifications, and pricing schedule.
This is not a basic quantity take-off. The expectation is that you approach this like a Tier 1 contractor, meaning you must fully understand how the project is constructed and measure accordingly.
Scope of Work:
Review all drawings thoroughly (civil, landscape, electrical, and details). Do not rely on any provided quantities — you must independently verify and measure everything.
Complete a full take-off and populate the provided Excel pricing schedule. All quantities must be accurate, clearly measured, and traceable back to drawings.
Break down all items by type and material. Do not group items broadly. For example, all paving must be separated into:
granite paving
sandstone paving
permeable paving
brick headers
cobblestones
Measure for construction, not just plan areas. This means including:
bedding layers
subgrade preparation
edge restraints
wastage and cuts
excavation depths and volumes
base layers
Civil Works:
Calculate excavation volumes based on levels (not assumed depths)
Measure subgrade areas, slabs, kerbs, footings, and all concrete works
Identify and measure retaining walls and edge details
Drainage and Services:
Measure all pipe lengths, pit quantities, trench drains, and water services
Include fittings, connections, and allowances for trenching and backfill
Hardscape:
Measure all paving areas accurately from drawings
Include stairs (treads, risers), tactiles, nosings, and transitions
Identify detailed areas such as feature paving, stage areas, and interfaces
Landscape:
Measure planting areas, soil volumes, mulch, and all planting quantities
Calculate stratavault/soil cell volumes based on plan extents and depths
Include irrigation extents and components
Furniture and Fixtures:
Count all items individually (benches, bins, bollards, shelter, etc.)
Ensure each item aligns with schedules and drawings
Electrical:
Count all fittings, poles, and fixtures
Measure conduit routes and estimate cable runs where possible
Identify Missing Scope:
If anything is shown on drawings but not in the BOQ, flag it clearly
Provide notes on any discrepancies or unclear items
Provide a Take-Off Summary Sheet:
Clearly explain assumptions
Highlight provisional quantities
Identify risks or uncertainties
Important Requirements:
Accuracy is critical — this will be used for tender pricing
All quantities must be realistic and constructible
Do not guess — if unclear, raise it
Include comments/notes for every major item
Deliverables:
Fully populated Excel take-off sheet
Marked-up drawings (if possible)
Summary of assumptions and clarifications required
