1. Project Overview
This work scope outlines the design requirements for a Fire Fighting Pump System, including Wet Riser, Hydrant System and Automatic Sprinkler Systems for Parking Areas and Shops, along with a fully compliant Fire Engine Connection as per NBC 2016 and DFES Goa standards.
The selected freelancer will be responsible for preparing complete engineering design documents required for authority compliance and project execution.
2. Objectives
* To design a fully functional and compliant fire pumping system.
* To size fire water tanks, pumps, piping, and sprinkler hydraulics.
* To ensure complete integration of hydrant, wet riser, and sprinkler networks.
* To incorporate fire engine inlet/outlet connections as per DFES norms.
* To produce submission-ready drawings and documents.
3. Scope of Work
3.1 Pump System Design
* Calculation of fire water demand as per NBC Part 4.
* Pump sizing including:
Main Fire Pump (Electric)
Standby Diesel Pump
Jockey Pump
* Development of pump head calculations (static + frictional losses).
* Specification of pump flow—hydrant/wet riser + sprinkler combined demand.
* Preparation of pump room layout and equipment arrangement.
3.2 Wet Riser & Hydrant System Design
* Riser sizing and pipe routing.
* Yard hydrant and landing valve placement.
* Pressure calculations for most remote hydrant point.
* System design with flow rate of 2280 LPM or as per final load.
* Fire hose cabinet layout planning.
3.3 Sprinkler System Design (Parking & Shops)
* Hazard classification (Ordinary Hazard OH-1/2 or as applicable).
* Sprinkler hydraulic calculations.
* Sprinkler spacing layout for:
Basement/Parking area
Individual shops
* Sprinkler zoning and control valve assembly design.
* Flow-switch, pressure switch, and alarm integration.
3.4 Fire Engine Connection Design
* Design of fire engine inlet/outlet connection
* Sizing of bypass manifolds and non-return arrangements.
* Specification of instantaneous male/female couplings.
* Integration with fire pump header.
* Layout drawing showing fire tender approach and connection point.
3.5 Water Storage Requirements
* Calculation of underground fire water tank capacity.
* Terrace tank sprinkler reserve (if applicable).
* Separate domestic and fire water separation planning.
3.6 Drawings & Documentation
The freelancer must deliver:
* Fire pump room layout drawing
* Wet riser & hydrant schematic
* Sprinkler layout for parking & shops
* Fire engine connection drawing
* Detailed hydraulic calculation sheets
* System specification report
* Material and equipment schedule
4. Deliverables
* Complete PDF + CAD drawings of all fire systems.
* Design calculation report (pumps, sprinklers, risers).
* Bill of materials (optional if requested).
* Compliance statement as per NBC 2016.
* DFES (Goa) approval-ready documentation package.
5. Skills Required
* MEP/Fire Protection Engineering background.
* Strong knowledge of NBC 2016 Part 4.
* Mastery of hydraulic calculation tools.
* Experience designing systems for India (preferably Goa).
* Proficiency in AutoCAD.
6. Freelancer Responsibilities
* Ensure all designs meet DFES & NBC requirements.
* Coordinate clarifications with the client during design.
* Provide timely revisions if required.
* Deliver high‑quality drawings suitable for execution.
7. Additional Notes
* Architectural drawings will be provided by the client.
* Any deviation from NBC must be justified with technical reasoning.
* Final submission should be clean, professional, and ready for authority review.
