Commercial Building Landscape design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Project Overview:
We are seeking proposals for the design and installation of a drought-tolerant, low-maintenance landscape at our commercial property located at 900 W Olive Avenue in Merced, CA. The goal is to create an aesthetically pleasing xeriscape environment that aligns with sustainable water use practices while maintaining accessibility around the building for maintenance.
Design Requirements:
Primary Landscape Theme:
Xeriscape / drought-tolerant design.
Incorporation of a variety of ornamental grasses for texture and visual appeal.
Use of white crepe myrtle bushes (Lagerstroemia) as the main shrub element for seasonal interest and color.
Ground Covering:
Beige decomposed granite (DG) as the primary ground cover.
Integration of large river rock (sizes ranging from 4” to 10”) distributed throughout the site for contrast and accent.
Building Clearance:
Maintain a minimum 8-foot wide perimeter clearing around the entire building structure.
This space will remain free of permanent landscaping to allow for use of a scissor lift for window and siding cleaning.
General Notes
Plant selections should be suited for Merced’s Central Valley climate and soil conditions.
Irrigation design should emphasize efficiency (e.g., drip irrigation).
Design should account for visibility, safety, and easy maintenance.
Deliverables:
Conceptual design plan (to-scale site layout).
Planting plan with species list.
Materials specification (DG, river rock, edging, irrigation).
Estimated project budget and timeline.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in landscape design
- Ability to work with existing design documentation and assess current facilities.
