Cargo & Boat Trailer Designs

Job ID: 40624860

Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD

I need complete structural design packages for trailers that can haul general cargo flat bed equipment trailers and trailers for boats. One specific trailer for boats will be a heavy hydraulic lifting trailer capable for adjusting width and using 6-10 different hydraulic rests for lifting the boat. This specific trailer should have the ability to pick and lift and place boat stands and drive out. The other finished units will vary in length 20–30’ with an 8.5’ overall width, and weight capacity’s ranging from 2k lbs per to 35-40k lbs steel and aluminum variations and the needed materials to construct to keep weight down while still meeting highway and ramp loading demands.

Here’s what I expect:
• Fabrication drawings (plan, elevation, sections and individual part sheets) ready for a fabricator to cut, drill and weld.
• A concise engineering report with global load calculations, axle reactions, frame deflection checks and stress verification for bending, shear and torsion under dynamic road loads as well as point loads at boat-support pads.
• Connection detailing that spells out weld sizes, bolt grades, torque specs and any required isolation between dissimilar metals where steel meets aluminum.
• A clear material call-out schedule, including recommended steel grades, marine-grade aluminum sections and standard off-the-shelf components (axles, couplers, brakes, lights).
• Native CAD files (SolidWorks or Inventor preferred) plus PDF drawings.

Acceptance criteria
The frame must meet or exceed applicable trailer standards in my region (DOT/FMVSS or equivalent), stay within the stated envelope, and show a minimum safety factor of 2.0 on all primary members. All calculations should be reproducible, and the drawing set must be complete enough for direct fabrication with no guesswork.

If you routinely run FEA, use SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS or similar and have past trailer or small mobile platform projects in your portfolio, this will be a straightforward collaboration. I’m ready to clarify local regulations or axle kits on request and will approve milestones as each deliverable is submitted. I have a list of materials we are currently using today and would like to keep using these items going forward. Mainly the axles and steel cross members. I can send a list of items and some technical drawings for these parts. We are seeking to go fully custom with designs and techniques from around the world to give our market the newest and greatest our tech has to offer. Plans will need to also include bending schedules and plans to make dies for hydraulic bender. Currently for a test sample run I can open budget based on 1 full set. And then prefer to use similar designs scaled for different use case. Ideally 8-10 finished complete designs. Engineering stamp will be a requirement for all testing and calculations to be verified. All work completed will be exclusively the ownership of the hiring party and will be subject to non disclosure for all files and data relating to the building and designs
