Autodesk Revit Function: Distance Command Like AutoCad

I would like a few scripts/macros that streamline and improve workflow in Autodesk Revit. I worked with Revit many years ago and just started to adopt it recently. After working with a dozen CAD and BIM software, I have seen a variety of workflow methods. I would simply like the ability to measure distance in Revit as AutoCad functions: <Command>, pick two points and have a read out for x, y, and z. The current method seem very cumbersome with the need for drawing dimensions and then only getting one distance and then needing to delete the dimension. It reminds me of older guys starting to work with AutoCad and dimensioning things when they only needed a distance.

I also would like a few other functionalities created that will increase production and design freedoms.
