I need a Podcast Editor!
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Hello,
We are looking to pay per hour of audio you edit (rate negotiable), and we are 10 episodes behind currently, and we do one episode per week. Once we get caught up, we record Sunday and so being able to drop on Monday or Tuesday would be awesome if you are capable of a fast turnaround. Episodes vary in length from 60 minutes to 150 minutes, depending.

Our editing needs are...possibly different than most? We're not looking to add in an intro or outro, or sound effects, or anything like that. We operate a discussion panel but it's an open forum, so people will invariably end up speaking over one another. Which honestly, we're fine with, as long as what's being said is understandable, and in the rare cases where people are talking over one another and it's unintelligible we would want to splice in some space and separate out the talk so that things can actually be heard.
One real and serious key thing is that we don't edit content (even inappropriate content, like physical threats, downright disgusting statements, etc, etc). We believe in free speech, so people say what they say and we allow it. All we're looking to do is to clean it up from a sound quality perspective. Remove unnecessary background noises, normalize anyone speaking too loudly or too quietly, clean up things like throat clearing, coughs, etc, etc. We really just care about people being able to hear it better. Now you can edit out small things (we don't edit content but if for example you have 5 people saying yes at once and can't understand anyone we can just cut out 4 and still get the yes across, but if all 5 say yes and you can hear it just fine we leave it in). I cannot overstate that we do NOT censor, so content stated always remains.
Anyhow, the goal is to have you catch up on the unedited episodes, and then once we're caught up we'll have you do the weekly editing.
I'm not really sure how you do it currently, right now I've set up a google drive and I can add episodes with a folder (so for example the 2022-04-10 episode would be it's own folder, the 2022-04-17 another folder, etc, etc). So if we come to terms then you can give me an email, I'll use that email to grant you access to the google drive, and we can do one Podcast and see how it goes. The recording tool we use saves each person as a separate stream, in OGG format, so for example the 2022-04-10 folder has inside of it 9 separate OGG files which all together make the podcast.
I'm not really a sound person, but I have personally used Audacity to drag all the streams in and edit, then export it as an MP3. That said if you prefer to work with WAV I don't have them in WAV format, but Audacity can take the OGG files and convert them to WAV (so Audacity's documentation says, I've not personally done it).
I will say that when exporting, the metadata that I'm aware of would be for this one:

We would need you to provide me the updated/edited streams/files just in case I need them. The easiest would be if you did the work in Audacity and when done added the files back (so the updated independent streams plus the Audacity project files), but really as long as however you do it I have access in case I need to do any personal minor revisions that's fine.
Also sometimes our recording tool cuts out, and if that happens it is what it is, but I would appreciate you letting me know (e.g. "At 1 hour 5 minutes and 18 seconds the audio recording went silent until 1 hour 9 minutes 33 seconds, so I cut that out"). And for dead space in general we don't mind it unless it's over 4-5 seconds, then please cut it down. But if there are 2 or 3 second gaps, we don't need to cut them all out, we're fine with a relaxed flow.
