Tune mic for audiobook narration -- 2

Job ID: 40262517

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I’m about to record an audiobook and I want every take coming from my Shure MV6 to sound clean, warm, and compliant with common distribution specs. Because I work in an open space, room noise and reflections are my main hurdles, so I need an engineer who can squeeze the best possible performance out of this mic and show me how to keep that quality consistent.

My post-production tool of choice is Audacity, so the workflow, plug-ins, and any presets you build must be compatible with it. What I’m hoping to walk away with is:

• An Audacity preset (or chain) covering input gain, EQ, compression, and noise reduction that keeps the noise floor within acceptable audiobook limits.
• Clear, step-by-step notes explaining how and when to apply each stage so I can reproduce the results on new chapters.
• Brief guidance on simple room-treatment tricks or mic-placement tweaks suited to an open space.
• A quick review of a short test recording to confirm we’ve nailed the tone and technical specs.

If a live call or screen-share helps, I’m happy to schedule it. Once the preset and documentation are delivered and the test clip passes your own quality check, I’ll consider the job complete.
