Remove background noise and increase volume & clarity or hard to hear talking/whispering

I have about 8-10 hours of audio recordings that have a lot of background noise. The vocals on many of them are a little louder than a whisper and cannot be understood. I need them cleared up to eliminate as much of the background noise as possible while increasing the clarity and volume of spoken words
