Build a Self tuning guitar

My son requires help to build a self tuning guitar for his year 12 systems engineering project. I have a budget of less than $500. This is due in two weeks so will be a short term job. He has an existing guitar to modify and all raspberry pi equipment. He has all design aspects documented and would just need someone to help with the practical side.
