Python Implementation of Real-Time SSTV (Robot36) Decoder using Pygame & Microphone Input

Job ID: 40042338

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I am looking for an experienced Python developer to translate an existing open-source SSTV (Slow Scan Television) decoder from another programming language into Python.

The original codebase (Robot36) can be found here:
[https://github.com/xdsopl/robot36](https://github.com/xdsopl/robot36)

This software decodes SSTV audio signals into images in real time (line-by-line decoding of a sound wave). I need a Python version with the following requirements:

Requirements

* Must be written in Python
* Must open a Pygame window at 480 x 480
* Must support real-time decoding using microphone input
* Decoded image must appear line-by-line in real time
* The image should be kept in its native size format
* Default SSTV mode: Robot36
* Other SSTV selections can remain in the command line
* Must be compatible with Raspberry Pi
* Two Robot36 diagnostic audio files will be provided for testing

References

* Original source: https://github.com/xdsopl/robot36
* Example app: Robot36 (Android) for functional reference

Ideal Developer

* Strong experience in Python
* Familiar with digital signal processing (DSP) and audio processing
* Experience with Pygame
* Comfortable working with open-source ports/translations
* Familiarity with Raspberry Pi optimization is a plus

This project involves accurate translation, real-time performance, and a clean, working implementation suitable for further expansion.
