Podcast Laptop Setup Assistance
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I want to record an audio-only podcast and need a technically minded person who can get my laptop and any related gear ready for reliable, professional-sounding sessions. The core job is hands-on setup: wiring the mic, interface or mixer (if required), configuring the recording software, setting proper gain and monitoring levels, and making sure everything records cleanly without hiss or clipping. Once it is all connected, walk me through a repeatable workflow so I can launch my episodes solo.
I already own a laptop; beyond that I’m still deciding whether to upgrade or add microphones, interfaces, pop filters or headphones. Your advice on what to buy—or confirmation that my current kit is sufficient—will be a big plus, but the immediate priority is getting whatever gear we settle on fully installed, tested and ready to roll.
Deliverables (acceptance criteria):
• Laptop configured with the agreed recording application (Audacity, Adobe Audition, GarageBand or another tool you recommend)
• Microphone and any interface properly connected, levels set, and sample rates matched
• A short test recording delivered to prove everything works and sounds clear
• A step-by-step cheat sheet outlining how I replicate the setup for each recording
If you’re comfortable troubleshooting drivers, advising on affordable audio hardware, and can explain things in plain language, this should be a straightforward gig.
