Fix Desktop Speaker Audio

My desktop speakers suddenly went silent even though they had been working perfectly. I have restarted the computer several times, confirmed the cables are firmly seated in the correct jack, and verified that every audio driver is already up to date. The only sound I hear now is a brief crackle when I unplug and plug the speakers back into the tower—after that, nothing.
